Interview: quinn_

quinn_ is a Seoul-based singer-songwriter who creates music inspired by the nostalgic chiptunes of early 2000s video games. Her recent singles, "superjump_hardcore" and "ERROR!" transport listeners into a pixelated world of high-energy beats and glitchy, retro-futuristic vibes.

What inspires your music?

Everything in life is my inspiration. I especially love games, so I get a lot of inspiration from them. I'm working on a game-themed album.

Who are some of your influences?

My music has changed a lot these days, but I've been influenced by dark music like Portishead and Lana Del Rey since a long time ago. I'm also influenced by electronic music-based artists like Magdelena Bay and Caroline Polachek.

What are some of your favorite memories from your career?

The most memorable experience was being on stage as a guest at Jerry Paper's Seoul show, which was the largest indoor performance I have ever had in front of an audience. Jerry Paper is also a favorite artist of mine, and it is such an honor to be a guest on his show that I remember a lot.

Which of your projects do you love the most?

My favorite song is always my favorite. So "ERROR!" is my favorite song. I love its coolness and unpredictable chord progression.

Who are some of the collaborators who helped you create your favorite works?

A Shoegazing artist named BrokenTeeth participated in my '0-Oxygen' album on guitar. I loved the sound of Shoegaze, so I wanted to make one, and his guitar made it even more beautiful. (IG : @brokenteeth99)

What are you most excited to bring to your fans next?

I'm slowly preparing for the full-length album. I'm working hard to release good songs as it's a full-length album, so please look forward to it.

What are your goals for this upcoming year?

I'm planning to focus more on preparing the album. I'm also planning to perform as soon as possible.

How can your fans and our readers best support you right now?

Please follow my Instagram '@quinnyistherxder' and YouTube channel '@quinnwav.' Most of all, I would appreciate it if you enjoyed my music a lot. Thanks!
