Interview: Fleur Geurl

Fleur Geurl is a Brooklyn-based musician whose work blends ethereal folk melodies with haunting, layered harmonies. Drawing inspiration from shifting landscapes, personal mythology, and the passage of time, her music is both intimate and cinematic, weaving together delicate vocals, guitar, cello, and synth-driven textures.

What inspires your music?

I'm inspired to write as a way to process my own internal world. It's more like a diary I share, there's no good reason for it.

Who are some of your influences?

Enya, Florence and the Machine, Agnes Obel

What are some of your favorite memories from your career?

My favorite memories have been the time I get to spend with my friends playing music, or the "ah-ha" moments that come when I'm in the car listening to a mix and realize that it's the one.

Which of your projects do you love the most?

My favorite songs tend to always be my most recent ones, so, for now, it's 'Changeling'. It covers a topic I shied away from for a long time and having it out and done makes me feel unburdened from it.

Who are some of the collaborators who helped you create your favorite works?

For my most recent works, 'Genesis' and 'Changeling' I recorded with my good friend and incredible engineer Harrison Park. He's been crucial in the production of those pieces, assisting in not only recording but drums as well as bass. You can find him and his other works at @footwork.hp on Instagram

Another person I couldn't do without is my friend Preston Dunnavant who has mixed all of my projects for the last 8 years. He has also been known to add atmospheric accents in the pieces as well. He's an incredible person who is better than us because he has no social media to share. (I'm just keeping him to myself)

Last but certainly not least, I've been collaborating with the worlds best cellist, Claire Allen-Solomon. I cannot describe how in awe I am of the work she brings to the table. Just, chefs kiss. Check her out at @clairemarie.cello

What are you most excited to bring to your fans next?

I am excited to bring them more music as soon as possible! I have been working really hard to write a new album and get in the studio!

What are your goals for this upcoming year?

My goals are to play out more frequently. I'm putting together a 4 piece band that I'm really excited about, and with them, I hope to be playing in a bar near you.

How can your fans and our readers best support you right now?

Stream 'Changeling'. If you're in Brooklyn, come out to a show. <3 I would love to sing for ya.
