Interview: Caitlin Mae
Caitlin Mae, based between the UK and Nashville, is a multiple award-winning singer-songwriter making waves across the global country music scene. From thrilling crowds across Europe and North America to performing on festival stages and arenas, she continues to build momentum. Her international festival debut in Italy in 2023 led to a UK and USA tour in 2024, with even bigger opportunities ahead in 2025. A professional-tier CMA member, Caitlin Mae has played at CMA Fest in 2023 and 2024, connecting with fans from all 50 states and 51 countries at the Nashville Universe Booth.
She has judged award shows, played sold-out gigs, and hit #1 with new releases before heading back on tour. Carrie Underwood herself recognized her talent after their duet in 2019, declaring, "Caitlin’s coming for this stage!" As she continues her rise, Caitlin Mae is undoubtedly one to watch.
What inspires your music?
The inspiration for my music comes mainly from my own personal experiences. The best and most open therapy you can ever have is those sessions you have with yourself. They are straight from the soul and aided by a guitar that will never betray you.
Who are some of your influences?
It goes without saying that Carrie Underwood has been a huge influence on my musical journey and I have always loved her voice, particularly her rocky edge. I further love Taylor Swift and grew up listening to her early music which I still enjoy. Kelsea Ballerini's sound gives me goosebumps and I always have some of her songs on my playlists. The first country song I ever performed live was Maren Morris' "My Church" and from that point I felt I found my people.
What are some of your favorite memories from your career?
There are SO many, but one that really sticks out for me is when I got the opportunity to get on stage with the amazing Carrie Underwood and sing with her. It was during her first ever visit to Wales in the United Kingdom and she was on her Cry Pretty 360 Tour. I had to send in an audition tape for the chance to duet with her. It was surreal, and it gave me a taste of what it was like to be on a BIG stage - something I really want to happen again VERY soon.
Which of your projects do you love the most?
When I launch a song, it's usually because I have fallen in love with it and want to share it with my Dreamers. The only problem is, then I write the next one, and it happens all over again. Right now I think my favourite song is Mr Moving On BUT... I've been in the studio a lot recently, recording my next few releases and I'm so excited for the first one of 2025 to drop and I just know it's going to become my next favourite so watch this space!
Who are some of the collaborators who helped you create your favorite works?
I have been really fortunate since moving to Nashville to work with some amazing people at some awesome studios including @theblackbirdstudio @loveshackstudios and @saxman_studios @Soundkitchenstudiosnashville
A huge shout out to @Lukepimentel who masters all my songs @clarkeschleicher my vocal engineer at Blackbird and @andrewperlowich my vocal engineer at Saxman Studios all of whom I really appreciate and enjoy working with.
What are you most excited to bring to your fans next?
I am very excited this year to be bringing my Dreamers a number of house concerts across the USA. Right now, I am offering my Patreons the chance to host a free house concert where I will travel to them and play for an audience of their choice. I can't wait to meet up with old friends and make new Dreamers along the way.
What are your goals for this upcoming year?
My goals for this year are to release music every 8 weeks, be in the studio recording when I'm not on the road playing house gigs and enjoy a summer full of festivals in as many different States as I can.
How can your fans and our readers best support you right now?
I would absolutely love my Dreamers to join my Patreon - htttps://www.patreon.com/caitlinmaemusic and become part of the "family" that I am trying to build there. My Patreon offers a number of tiers and the patreons themselves get lots of perks, early access and behind the scenes when they join.
It also helps massively if they stream my music across any of the streaming platforms and also, joining my weekly livestream on a Tuesday on my Facebook page is hugely beneficial when it comes to building my social media.
