Annie Jean Linn is a musician, visual artist, and filmmaker in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her music varies from synth-pop to electronic experimental, but she also writes and sings for two forthcoming grunge projects and is a Sully Guitars artist. Her music is deeply intertwined with her visual works, incorporating as much dark humor as humanly possible.

What inspires your music?

I find myself pulling from everywhere and everything. I really enjoy old movies and discovering new painters and photographers. There is really something to learn from any kind of artist, which is why I like to experiment and explore different avenues so often.

Who are some of your influences?

I am definitely influenced by David Byrne. He is just so clever and theatrical. His writing style is absolutely brilliant and it just sort of flutters by you, leaving you caught up in what he was saying and what it could mean. David Bowie is also one of my biggest influences throughout my life. I was absolutely obsessed with him growing up. His work just made me feel like it was okay to be who I was and that was a really special gift he gave to people. And really, he still continues to give that to people even now, well beyond his time on this planet.

What are some of your favorite memories from your career?

I grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and when I was sixteen the New Mexico State Senate sent me an award recognizing me for my music. That was really special. It’s something I can still look back on and remember my start in music and the passion I had for it as a kid. I hope to always have that child-like passion for music.

Which of your projects do you love the most?

I would have to say it is Lost Control. There were just no wrong answers in writing or singing it once the idea materialized. The subject is off-putting while still being relatable and positive. It still makes me laugh every time I hear it.

Who are some of the collaborators who helped you create your favorite works?

Jason Duarte - Producer

Tristan V. Barsky - Composer, Producer

What are you most excited to bring to your fans next?

I am really excited to release some songs with a very dear friend of mine, Pascual Romero. Collaborating with him is just a breeze and I really respect him as a person and musician.

I am also working on a grunge project, sort of a spinoff from the group Sadurday I was in that I am really excited to further develop.

What are your goals for this upcoming year?

I really want to push forward on my collaborations. I am going to be pouring a lot of energy into those. Collaborations are the best way to grow and I never want to stop developing as an artist.

How can your fans and our readers best support you right now?

Following me on my Instagram @annie_jeanmusic would be awesome! That’s the best way to keep up with my music releases and visual works.
