Review: Dumitresku Remix of Marty Crown's "Queen of Sadness"

Building up to the release of her album Gem Store, Marty Crown has released 4 singles: “Queen of Sadness”, “I Need You Right Now”, “Kisses (Happy Endings)”, and “Stay”.  Teaming up again with Kazakhstan-based producer/DJ Dumitresku, the dynamic duo re-imagine Marty Crown’s popular single, “Queen Of Sadness”.

Marty and Dumitresku met while Marty was still living in Kazahkstan. Dumitresku is an electronic music producer and DJ who produces and performs deep and progressive house music. Though his focus is on these genres, he also has released music in other genres like pop, electronica,  hip-hop, and future bass. He and Marty first collaborated when he produced her track “Mistakes” featured on her debut EP, Hologram.

“Queen of Sadness (Dumitresku Remix)” feels like a natural second iteration of Marty’s iconic release. With a progressive trance twist, Dumitresku uses “Queen of Sadness” elements with a thought-provoking finesse that immerses the listener. With replacements for many of the lighter elements of the original release, this version is darker, giving the feeling of being submerged underwater at some points.
