There is power in the ability to simply be who you are. In many cases this has been reserved for men, while some women have struggled to express themselves due to fear they will be perceived as too strong or not feminine enough. Francesca Brown, a California based country and Americana singer-songwriter has resolved to be strong, blunt, and unapologetic. Steeped in the sound and visual traditions of the Southwest, Francesca Brown’s music is beautifully arranged providing an escape into the deepest roots of American music, where the listener encounters blunt tales of an imperfect world.

Born in California, Francesca spent most of her childhood constantly moving between southern California and rural Illinois. She first found love for music while attending shows of musicians such as B.B. King, Little Richard, and Buddy Guy. Home life was pretty chaotic and growing up faster than most; Francesca learned how to fend for herself and hone her work ethic at a young age. Around 2012, Francesca’s world froze with the unexpected passing of her sister, and soon her mother fell ill with cancer. She became her mother’s primary caregiver while raising her infant child. Within a year her mother passed. Filled with anger and sadness, Francesca prioritized her family's stability and put a pause on her music career.

As the weight began to lighten on Francesca’s shoulders, she began writing and playing guitar again. She started to perform regularly in California at venues such as The Echo, Hotel Café, and The Satellite, Francesca began to grow her presence as an artist. She released her debut album Collide in 2016, and has released 3 singles and an EP since. Her most popular being her 2017 release “When I Get Home,” a single off of her Whiskey Barrel Blues EP. Her music has come to be recognized and featured on publications such as American Songwriter and received airplay on KCSN and Nic Harcourt's “9 O'Clock News.” In 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, she found out she was pregnant with her second child. Life was more complicated, but the situation inspired her to create an unreleased two-sided body of work Live from Quarantine and Pandemia.

With her EPs completed, Francesca came into contact with Silver Gun Records. The label fell in love with the body of work and took Francesca onto the roster. Francesca will be releasing these new projects under Silver Gun Records in 2021 which will feature new songs and fresh reimaginations of some tracks off of her album Collide.
